When it comes to measuring awesomeness, I don't think this past week even registered on the scale. Not even -1. Except maybe the wine drinking I did on Thursday night combined with the shoes I wore. Those two items rated pretty high on the scale. And in times of pure crapiness, you need to be around people who have to love you unconditionally by law: your family.
I took the train to my folks place on Friday for a change of scenery, clean sheets and a meal that wasn't scrambled eggs or cereal. I'm 31 years-old and when and my mom still knows how to cheer me up. She makes my favourite dinner. Just like when I used to come home from university. She is seriously the best, my mom. And I have no idea what I would do without her.
If you don't know her, you should. You'd be lucky. She's amazing. And she says things like "I don't understand those Krevetchians!" when she actually means the Kardashian's. And she puts her glasses on to try to learn my iPhone and send text messages to my sister. And she picks me up at the train. And she watches crappy reality show programs with me. And she's basically the best mom of all time.
And she reads my blog. HI MOM.
What is my favourite meal you ask? Well, nothing puts me in good spirits like roast chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy. I think the gravy on its own has some kind of magic good-mood ingredient. How can you be sad when you drink, I mean, eat gravy? Impossible I say.
UPDATE: A shout-out to my dad for scooping the ice cream onto the apple crisp. Ice cream scooping, and anything ice cream related, such as milkshakes, has been his family job for about 30 years. Thanks dad.
Please bear with my extremely non-professional iPhone photos of my happy food.

My mom calls the Kardashians the Karmexians. Close enough. She also says foots and fishes. Basically she loves English.
Bahahahahahhahaahhaa. I think I love your mom.
You are very lucky to have such a mom. That food looks succulent. And here's another way to make brussel sprouts delicious. Coat them in olive oil, sprinkle them with kosher salt and a little pepper and roast them in the oven at 425 for around 30 minutes or until they're browned a bit. Sprinkle some parmesan cheese over them, mix in some dried cranberries and they taste like popcorn with a little sweetness to them.
And gawd, I love those shoes. They're fantastic.
You need to give dad a little love for serving up the ice cream. It's what is he is best at.
Also I thought delicious wasn't a good word. huh?
